R3G15 began his career in glass in 2006 in Boulder, Colorado, where he trained within a production studio environment as an apprentice. Immersed in the discipline of technical precision and repetition, he developed a deep understanding of process, form, and material behavior.
Alongside this foundation, he pursued an independent studio practice—utilizing after-hours access to tools and materials to experiment freely, cultivating a distinct visual language and advancing his own techniques. This dual experience of structured production and self-directed exploration continues to inform his approach, balancing discipline with innovation in his evolving body of work.
My artistic voyage has been an exploration of unexpected pathways, where necessity intertwined with creativity to unveil a captivating new realm of expression. In search of a fitting backdrop to capture the essence of my glass sculptures, I stumbled upon the enchanting world of scale model miniature making. What began as a practical solution soon unfolded into an entirely new artistic chapter. Within the intricate details of these miniature worlds, I found a canvas to translate my visions into tangible form. The meticulous craftsmanship demanded by this medium resonated with me, offering a unique avenue to translate my artistic voice. The challenges of sculpting on a miniature scale mirrored the delicate nuances of my glasswork, allowing me to evoke emotions, stories, and atmospheres with astonishing precision. Through this unexpected convergence of glass and miniatures, my artistry has gained a fresh depth and dimension. The juxtaposition of fragility and intricacy resonates within each piece, inviting viewers to peer into these miniature universes and unearth hidden narratives. This new body of work not only stands as a testament to artistic evolution but also reflects the boundless potential that can emerge from embracing the unexpected.
The influence of the Red Road and the teachings of First Nations communities—particularly those of the Lakota Sioux—mark a profound and enduring transformation within R3G15’s life and artistic practice. Through direct participation in ceremonial traditions across Montana, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and South Dakota, he encountered a framework of spiritual discipline, cultural continuity, and relational understanding that reshaped both his personal path and creative vision.
These experiences offered not only a sense of grounding and belonging, but also affirmed a lifelong pull toward Indigenous ways of knowing—an intuitive connection that had quietly guided him since childhood. Within these ceremonial spaces, R3G15 found both reflection and renewal, deepening his sensitivity to material, symbolism, and intention.
This influence resonates throughout his work, where elements of form, pattern, and narrative carry echoes of ancestral memory and lived experience. Across mediums, his practice reflects an ongoing dialogue between contemporary expression and timeless cultural reverence—an artistic language shaped by respect, transformation, and an enduring sense of connection.
